Angels!

To serve God
A study on Angels by John L. Chopores
Angels in the Bible.

Functions of:
1. To guard the things of God. cf. Genesis 3:24 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. (KJV)
In symbol, the Ark (e.g. the present of the Lord). cf. 1 Samuel 4:4 4 So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God. (KJV) Psalm 80:1 1 <> Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth. (KJV) Let us keep in mind, that the "ark" was an earthly copy of the heavenly reality.
cf. Hebrews 8:5 5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. (KJV)

2. Help in the giving of the Law. cf. Acts 7:53
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. (KJV)
Galatians 3:19
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. (KJV)
Hebrews 2:2 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; (KJV)
3. Instrument of revelation to prophets, cf. Daniel 4:13-17
13 I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
14 He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
15 Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
16 Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. (KJV)
Zechariah 1:9
9 Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. (KJV)
Even the future! cf. Daniel 8:19
19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. (KJV)
In some cases, telling them what to do next! cf. Acts 8:26
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. (KJV)
Sometimes it was a big Prophecy! cf. Revelation 1:1
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: (KJv}

Heaven!

Heaven, home, sweet home!
The next life, what is it like?
By John Chopores

Mt 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Some say, "You cant take it with you!" True, but you can send some ahead of you! Cf. Lu 6:38 give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back."

Lu 10:20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. We see that God knows His own. Cf. 2Ti 2:19 But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity." And they are holy.
For there is no sin or sickness, in heaven! Cf. Re 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Re 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
There is room for all, who would come to Jesus, obey Him. Cf. Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Re 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Jesus is alrealy in heaven, waiting for us! cf. Ac 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, Ac 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
But, how can a sinner, go to heaven? cf. Ro 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Ro 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
By the work of Jesus, on the cross! cf.Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Mr 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. 1 My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 and he is the [1]propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
[1] all actions which have expiation for their object [BULLINGER PAGE. 608.].
God made three heavens. Two of them in Gen. 1. cf.Ge 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Re 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
The Hebrew word for "heaven" in Gen 1:1 is in the Dual number. In Hebrew, the Dual means two, no more, no less. So, at this time God made two heavens. I believe that at this time (Gen.1:1), the spiritual Heaven was alrealy made!
This study, is about the spiritual Heaven.

Love in the Bible!

A commentary on Love in the Bible.
every place in the Bible that, the word "love" is used.
by. John L. Chopores
Genesis 22:2 2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

This is the first verse, in the Bible where the word "love" is used. Let us learn from this, that love starts with giving! "Take your son, your only son", God (the Father) is saying, ""you must give all that you really love, to know love".
Even at the begining of the Bible, in the first chapter, God is seen giving. cf. Genesis 1:1-2
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (KJV) We see Spirit of God moving to give.
"It was a trial of Abrahams love to God, and therefore it must be in a beloved son, and that string must be touched most upon: in the Hebrew it is expressed more emphatically, and, I think, might very well be read thus: Take now that son of thine, that only one of thine, whom thou lovest, that Isaac. Gods command must overrule all these considerations.
Now this obedience of Abraham in offering up Isaac is a lively representation, (1.) Of the love of God to us, in delivering up his only-begotten Son to suffer and die for us, as a sacrifice. It pleased the Lord himself to bruise him. See Isa. 53:10; Zec. 13:7. Abraham was obliged, both in duty and gratitude, to part with Isaac, and parted with him to a friend; but God was under no obligations to us, for we were enemies. (2.) Of our duty to God, in return for that love. We must tread in the steps of this faith of Abraham. God, by his word, calls us to part with all for Christ, all our sins, though they have been as a right hand, or a right eye, or an Isaacall those things that are competitors and rivals with Christ for the sovereignty of the heart (Lu. 14:26); and we must cheerfully let them all go. God, by his providence, which is truly the voice of God, calls us to part with an Isaac sometimes, and we must do it with a cheerful resignation and submission to his holy will, 1 Sa. 3:18." [Matthew Henry.].
"Take now thy son Bishop Warburtons observations on this passage are weighty and important. "The order in which the words are placed in the original gradually increases the sense, and raises the passions higher and higher: Take now thy son, (rather, take I beseech thee an na,) thine only son whom thou lovest, even Isaac. Jarchi imagines this minuteness was to preclude any doubt in Abraham. Abraham desired earnestly to be let into the mystery of redemption; and God, to instruct him in the infinite extent of the Divine goodness to mankind, who spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, let Abraham feel by experience what it was to lose a beloved son, the son born miraculously when Sarah was past child-bearing, as Jesus was miraculously born of a virgin. The duration, too, of the action, Genesis 22:4, was the same as that between Christs death and resurrection, both which are designed to be represented in it; and still farther not only the final archetypical sacrifice of the Son of God was figured in the command to offer Isaac, but the intermediate typical sacrifice in the Mosaic economy was represented by the permitted sacrifice of the ram offered up, Genesis 22:13, instead of Isaac." Only son All that he had by Sarah his legal wife." [A. Clarke.].
"Yea, that son whom thou lovest The trial was of Abrahams love to God, and therefore it must be in a beloved son: in the Hebrews tis expressed more emphatically, and I think might very well be read thus, Take now that son of thine, that only son of thine, whom thou lovest, that Isaac. And get thee into the land of Moriah Three days journey off: so that he might have time to consider it, and if he do it, must do it deliberately. And offer him for a burnt offering He must not only kill his son, but kill him as a sacrifice, with all that sedateness and composedness of mind, with which he used to offer his burnt-offering." [Wesley.].
Genesis 24:12 12 And he said, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, grant me success today, I pray thee, and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. [rsv]
Our love, is to be like Gods, "steadfast"! Real love will last.
Genesis 24:14 14 Let the maiden to whom I shall say, 'Pray let down your jar that I may drink,' and who shall say, 'Drink, and I will water your camels' --let her be the one whom thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac. By this I shall know that thou hast shown steadfast love to my master."[rsv]
Like, God, we should show our love, by our works! cf. 1 John 3:18
18 Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. (NRSV)
Genesis 24:27 27 and said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the way to the house of my master's kin." (NRSV)
Love is helpful!
Genesis 29:20 20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her. (KJV)
Love is long-lasting, and it can wait!
"Love makes long and hard services short and easy; hence we read of the labor of love, Hebrews 6:10. If we know how to value the happiness of heaven, the sufferings of this present time will be as nothing to us. An age of work will be but as a few days to those that love God, and long for Christs appearing.[Mat. Henry.].
Genesis 29:32 32 And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me. (KJV)
Love, cares!
Genesis 32:10 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands. (KJV)
Love has a seed, which it we let it, will grown!
Genesis 39:21 21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love; he gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer. (NRSV)
Gods love never ends, neither should ours. Here we see God giving again! God never stops giving. Never, never, never!!!
Exodus 15:13 13 "In your steadfast love you led the people whom you redeemed; you guided them by your strength to your holy abode. (NRSV)
Because of His love, God guides. Knowledge is good, when it is hand in hand with love. cf. 1 Corinthians 8:1
1 Now concerning food sacrificed to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. (NRSV)
1 Corinthians 13:2 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. (NRSV)
Philippians 1:9 9 And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight (NRSV)
Colossians 2:2 2 I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ himself, (NRSV)
Hosea 6:6 6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. (KJV)
Exodus 20:6 6 but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments. (NRSV)
Time does not, lessen love. First love is a small seed, it we water it, it will grow! Let us not lose out first love!! cf. Revelation 2:4 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. (KJV)
Exodus 21:5 5 But if the slave declares, "I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out a free person," (NRSV)
Sometimes, love is so great, that it will give-up freedom, to become truly free! cf. Romans 6:18 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. (KJV)
Romans 8:2 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (KJV)
Exodus 34:6-7 6 The LORD passed before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, yet by no means clearing the guilty, but visiting the iniquity of the parents upon the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation." (NRSV)
Love is something, we can never have too much of. It should be ever growing. But growing warmer, not colder. cf. Matthew 24:12 12 And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold. (NRSV) For the Word of God (the Bible), and holiness is the soil and water to make it grow.

Rom. 5:5 and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.
Abundantly put within us cf.Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Rom. 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Revelation 2:4 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. (KJV)
We see, all the way at the last book of the Bible. That love is still there! We can have our first love, to the end!!!

"5. It is not possible for any to recover the first love, but by taking these three steps,
Remember: We are to 2. Repent: 3. Do the first works.
"The sin Christ charged this church with, is, not the having left and forsaken the object of love, but having lost the fervent degree of it that at first appeared. Christ is displeased with his people, when he sees them grow remiss and cold toward him.
They must repent: they must be grieved and ashamed for their sinful declining, and humbly confess it in the sight of God. They must endeavor to recover their first zeal, tenderness, and seriousness, and must pray as earnestly, and watch as diligently, as when they first set out in the ways of God. If the presence of Christs grace and Spirit is slighted, we may expect the presence of his displeasure." [Matt. Henry.].

Revelation 3:19 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. (KJV)
This is the last verse, in the Bible that the word love is used. And still, we see God talking about His love for us! Let us learn to love into eternally!!! cf. Judges 2:1
1 And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. (KJV)
Hebrews 13:5 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)
I am still working on this one!
